Selecting A Race

This is an important decision. The race you select determines what guild to take (we'll discuss what guilds in a minute), and the general advancement of your character in the MUD. So type 'n' to take you north into the race selection room. Now read the room description carefully. There's a huge list of races, so choose wisely. The wizards have kindly set up a system that automatically determines which races are best for a certain guild.

What does it mean by race? The term "race" in these instances is not the same as the term used in modern society. In fact, the RetroMUD term race would more correctly be referred to as species. In RetroMUD, you will often see a selection of "races" like human, uruk, suula, gnome, etc.
